A Message from Jazzschool Vocal Program Director
Laurie Antonioli
Greetings Dear Songbirds
As you can see, we have an exciting new catalog format this year! It now includes course offerings spanning three quarters — fall, winter and spring — facilitating students’ longer-term planning.
Most vocal classes are offered all three quarters. Short-term workshops run throughout the year. We have a number of exciting workshops already announced, including Technique with Sandy Cressman, The Great Composers with Maye Cavallaro, Vocal Improvisation with Stephen Saxon and Stage Presence with Lisa Lindsley. Note: workshops will be added throughout the year, so please check the website regularly for an updated schedule.
When considering taking a class or workshop it is important to learn as much as you can about the instructor. Generally, an instructor’s background and performance style informs their teaching style. We’ve gathered quotes from all of our vocal teachers describing their personal teaching philosophy and have also listed their websites to help you make choices that are best for you. Last fall marked the fourth year of the Jazzschool Institute, our baccalaureate degree program. Auditions are held year round. If you are interested in enrolling in the Jazzschool Institute Vocal Program, please feel free to contact me at laurie@jazzschool.org and, as always, if you have any questions about classes, workshops or concerts, don’t hesitate to contact me. Email is best!
