Music Recording and Production Techniques

Bay Area producers/recording artists Joe Bagale and Nino Moschella co-teach this 10-week course at Bird & Egg Recording Studio, a professional recording environment. Students explore a wide range of recording techniques using both digital (Pro Tools) and classic analog recording equipment. Topics covered include mic placement, signal flow, recording rhythm tracks, vocals, overdubbing, full band recording, mixing and editing using EQ, compression, and other basic effects.
Students also listen to and analyze a variety of classic recordings to better understand techniques used by various important producers and engineers. Open to instrumentalists, vocalists, beat makers, and anyone else interested in a hands-on introduction and overview of professional recording techniques.
