New Exhibit at The Bassment: Monotypes by Barry Ebner
 

The Bassment is currently displaying works by Berkeley-based artist Barry Ebner.  Mr. Ebner's processes will sound familiar to musicians: improvisation, theme and development, response to changes.

From the Artist's Statement: "I approach the monotype and drawing process much the way a musician would approach a jam session with familiar musicians.  Everyone knows what the other does, but beyond a basic structure or head everything is left up to the synthesis of the group...The monotype process in particular lends itself to this improvisational form because there is only a working time of about one hour before the plate must be printed."

The works will be on display through the Summer quarter.
